The Cameroon Ministry of Mines recognized Fassa as a natural mineral water in 2018, in accordance with the regulation for all-natural mineral waters.
Although Fassa water is naturally pure, American Beverage Company, the main manufacturer of Fassa only bottles 60% of the natural flow of its resource; the rest of natural flow water is disposed during the 7-stage of the purification process.
